SENIOR FACULTY
Arindam Basu, currently a Senior Faculty member in the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Sister Nivedita University, boasts an illustrious career marked by significant achievements in both media and academia. His academic foundation is solid, having earned a Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Calcutta, where he graduated at the top of his class. Additionally, he holds an English Honours degree from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata. His academic excellence was recognized with the prestigious Santosh Kr Ghosh Memorial Award.
Arindam's professional journey in media spans over 15 years, during which he has contributed to renowned media houses such as United News of India, NewsX, and Sports Illustrated. His extensive experience across different facets of journalism and media has equipped him with a deep understanding of the industry's nuances. In 2010, Arindam's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Carpe Diem Communique Pvt. Ltd., a boutique PR agency that quickly gained recognition for its innovative communication strategies and client-focused approach.
Despite his professional commitments, Arindam has always been passionate about education. For over a decade, he served as a visiting lecturer at several esteemed institutions, including the University of Calcutta and Women's College. His dedication to academia culminated in 2020 when he decided to focus entirely on teaching and nurturing future media professionals. In his current role as Senior Faculty at Sister Nivedita University, Arindam teaches core subjects such as reporting, editing, advertising, and public relations, sharing his vast knowledge and real-world insights with his students.
Arindam is also a published author, with a diverse body of work that reflects his multifaceted interests and expertise. His personal memoir, "Millennium Memories," offers a nostalgic glimpse into the vibrant city of Calcutta. His collection of short stories, "Everything You Never Expected," showcases his narrative prowess and ability to capture the human experience in compelling ways. Additionally, he co-authored "The Reporter" with Sujoy Dhar, an academic book that serves as a valuable resource for aspiring journalists. His contributions to sports journalism have also been recognized, with his work featured in the anthology "The Best of Indian Sports Writing."
